Chuck Cox Walking Youth Stake

The National Chukar Championship Association is hosting the 1st Annual Chuck Cox Walking Youth Stake to be held Saturday Nov. 14 in Harney County, Oregon in conjunction with their slate of regular stakes. The Youth Stake is open to youth handlers ages 6-14 , each brace to be 20 minutes and held to a “steady to wing and shot” Shooting Dog standard. All youth handlers will receive a “handler’s bag” containing a whistle/lanyard, cap gun, ball cap, and water bottle. Youth wishing to compete that do not currently own a pointing breed dog may choose from a string of offered dogs whose owner will walk with participant as a coach. All entries will receive a photo with their dog. First four placements will receive placement rosette ribbons and a winners photo. Winner will receive a 1st place rosette ribbon, winner’s photo, and plaque. Entry fee $10 (by donation). All donations to the Chuck Cox Walking Youth Stake gratefully accepted.

Bama Quail Youth Field Trial

Included in the Bama Quail Classic, an Alabama and Dixie Trace Points trial, this horseback youth stake will commence on Sunday, December 5, at 12:00 noon, time permitting. A makeup date will be announced if the stake cannot be run. 

Run to Gun Dog Standards. Judges to be announced.

Lee County FTA presents its second Dixie Trace FTA/Alabama YFTA Points Trial on the beautiful grounds of Showtime Plantation, Bronwood, GA. This is a youth horseback trial run to Gun Dog Standards and rules as per Dixie Trace FTA

The trial will take place after the completion of the Lee County Open Derby Stake but not before December 18. Judges to be announced. The drawing will be held on Friday, December 17 at the home of Larron and Laura Copeland. For more information and to enter a dog, please call Larron Copeland at 229-317-1812. This was a very popular event last year…don’t miss it!


Watermelon Pond Bird Hunters Club Youth Stake

SBHA member club, Watermelon Pond Bird Hunters Club’s youth stake will follow their Amateur Walking Shooting Dog stake. Braces will be 20 minutes with judges to be announced. For handlers without a dog…no worries, a dog will be provided! The walking/horseback stake will be held near Archer, Florida. Follow GPS coordinates: 29°31’50.8″N 82°33’25.1″W.

Muckalee Creek FTC Youth Trial

The Muckalee Creek FTC trial held on Burnt Branch Plantation, Ochlocknee, GA will begin on March 19 (or at the conclusion of the Black Belt trial which begins on March 18). The Youth Stake will follow the Amateur Shooting Dog. For handlers 17 and younger. 20 min. braces. Entry fee: $20.00. Dogs judged on Gun Dog Standards. Judges: Greg Shepherd, Woody Watson. Points Trial for Dixie Trace Youth Handler of the Year

Second Annual Event! Begins Saturday, November 12, 2022, 10:00 am. Held at Conecuh Station, Union Springs, AL.

Horseback Youth Trial for handlers 17 and younger. Dogs to be judged to Gun Dog Standards. A revolving trophy in memory of Tommy Traylor donated by Jack and Fran Miller will be presented to the first place winner. Three placements plus Junior Division dog named (Junior Division: 12 and under). Alabama and Dixie Trace Youth Handler Points Trial.

Directions to Conecuh Station field trial grounds: Take Hwy 29 South from Union Springs, AL. Travel approx. 8 miles. Turn right on South Gate Road, just past mile marker 136.

Minnesota Grouse Dog Assoc. Youth Stake

The youth stake will be held in conjunction with the Minnesota Grouse Dog Association’s trial on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, 2024. The trial will be held on the Four Brooks WMA, approximately 10 miles north of Milaca on Hwy 169. The youth stake will be held on Sunday and is free of charge. Rosettes for all!

Come and learn all about bird dogs and how to handle a dog!
June 22, 2024 10 am – 3 pm to be conducted in Rochester, PA

This is a free event hosted by the American Red Setter Bird Dog Club and the Beaver Valley Pointer & Setter Club. Kids will learn to handle a bird dog in the field! Pointing dog to be provided for those who don’t have one. Prizes, fun and food! Partial credit for a BSA (Boy Scouts of America) Dog Care Merit Badge. Location: 239 Bonzo Road, Rochester, PA 15074. Come join the fun!
