YFTA’s mission is to grow youth field trials around the country and promote young people’s involvement with bird dogs. As in adult stakes, most youth trials in the southeast where they are most prolific, dogs are handled off horseback. Many of the participants are the children of parents who field trial, bird hunt, manage private quail plantations or shooting preserves. Congrats to the newly established Pinewoods Bird Dog Club near Monticello, FL. The new club was voted on to become part of the Dixie Trace Field Trial Association at their annual meeting this month.  Jeffery Arnold, manager at Pinewoods — a big supporters of youth field trials — is planning to host 2 Dixie Trace FTA Points Youth Trials on Pinewoods Plantation, one this November and one March, 2024. YFTA regrets to announce that an alternate date for the 1st Annual Round Pond Youth Classic could not be found. Unfortunately due to the deluge of rain Southwest Georgia has received in recent weeks, the grounds are not suitable to conduct the trial. Stay tuned to find out if the trial can be rescheduled.
