Sean Derrig Clinic + Demonstration

On Saturday, March 14th Sean Derrig, aided by his son Sean Patrick, conducted a one-time-only Bird Dog Clinic & Demonstration at Erin’s Covey Pointe Plantation in Sale City, GA with ticket sales donated to YFTA.

Approximately 60 bird dog enthusiasts attended to learn about young dog development and Sean’s unique breaking steady to wing and shot process. People traveled from around Georgia but also from Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and as far as Texas. The day was interactive in nature with questions and answers throughout the day. The young dogs used during the day for the demonstration included some that Sean had not begun training yet to show how his techniques really do fast-track the learning process. The audience greatly appreciated this special opportunity to learn from one of the best-known bird dog trainers in the country and many lingered to talk further even after the event concluded. The day was a huge success for all! Thanks to all who helped including Maria Bassham who provided the photos below.

This event raised over $5,000 for the Youth Field Trial Alliance. We are enormously grateful to the father-son duo for their time and generosity, and thank everyone who purchased tickets in support of YFTA. We look forward to sharing updates with you on future youth field trials and our ongoing efforts to promote and expand our wonderful sport of pointing dog field trials.
