Standards to Field Trial Procedure, Judicial Practice, Handler and Bird Dog Performance
When youth handlers graduate to sanctioned field trials (UKC American Field) or compete in them still as a youth handler, they should be thoroughly familiar with the standards of the sport — the standards to which their dogs will be judged in various stakes and the rules they need to adhere to as a handler or scout.
“Standards to Field Trial Procedure, Judicial Practice, Handler and Bird Dog Performance”, are the official standards produced by the AFTCA and adopted by the American Field in the late 1940s and thus applied to both the amateur and professional sides of the sport. The content of this 2019 edition has changed very little from the previous 1988 edition. With the acceptance of recovery devices and advent of cellular devices, the rules for accepted usage have been updated in the AFTCA’s Running Rules when necessary over the past years as technology changed and advanced.
A handy 5.5″ x 8.5″ paperback version of the Standards is available through the Strideaway Online Store
