YFTA thanks Kathleen and Kevin Kelly for their tremendous support of our field trial sport over the past eight years, ever since the very first of their successful and tremendously popular “Southern Game Fair” that celebrate our wonderful sporting life! 4 years ago after the launch of YFTA, was the first time youth handlers were invited to participate in the Pointing Dog Demo that was part of the first game fair in November of 2016, conducted by Strideaway. Since 2019, the Pointing Dog Demos have been focused on youth handlers and youth field trials. We thanks Kevin’s for the opportunity to showcase our great sport and the participation of youth handlers!
This year the game fair was again held on the beautiful grounds of Chinquapin Plantation, Thomasville, GA. We asked two experienced young handlers — Daley Dalton and Kira Jenkins to demonstrate bird dog yard training on quail. Daley also did a short demo of her Tennessee Walking Horse used in horseback field trials. The young ladies were outstanding! YFTA’s Claudia McNamee and our good friend, long-time field trailer Til Hankley explained to the audience a little about our field trial sport and what they were watching. Thanks to YFTA’s Patty Ewer, and to Carli McFalls and Stan Padgett for their help in this, another successful Pointing Dog Demo. Thanks also to Terry James Chastain for loaning us his duck blind and two bird launchers!
