YFTA’s Ambassador Program
One of our biggest and most challenging goals is the expansion of youth field trials and other opportunities for kids to get involved with bird dogs to many more areas of the country. With that goal in mind, YFTA is looking for “Ambassadors” to help promote youth trials and training days in their regions. We believe that having representatives throughout the country will help build a network of individuals, clubs and organizations committed to this important endeavor. This is an informal role and we welcome all who want to help from simply being our eyes and ears in different regions to those who wish to do much more. ie. help clubs host youth stakes or trials.
Youth stakes, unless they are part of an organization or region’s point system, do not require being included in your field trial ad (though we think it’s a great idea!) and your club can conduct them in whatever way works best based on the number and ages of the kids. We recommend established youth trials with a fair number of entries to be run under American Field Gun Dog Standards. Even if you have only a handful of youngsters at your trial, please take time to help get them started. Watching youngsters and youths get involved in field trials is incredibly rewarding. Giving them opportunities to get hooked is vital to the health and longevity of our sport.
Thanks to the many individuals who have already stepped up to volunteer to be Ambassadors for their region!
